$56,229 (Class I, Step 6) - $85,393 (VII, Step 10) Annually

Job Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under an assigned supervisor, Instructors participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the vision, mission and values of the college and District. This position may include a combination of day, evening, and/or weekend assignments, large lectures and small seminars, and is being offered by a college strongly committed to the "open door" concept serving a diverse student population. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA AS SET BY THE CALIFORNIA BOARD OF REGISTERED NURSING:

Master's in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Current license or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California AND The equivalent of one year of continuous experience as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care in the last five years in a pediatric setting (clinical teaching applies) AND
Eligible for approval as an instructor by the California State Board of Nursing.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must demonstrate:

* Academic preparation for, or successful experience in, teaching nursing courses at the community college or university level or equivalent.

* Expertise in pediatric nursing and willingness to teach.

* Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleagues and students.

* Ability to instruct and motivate students from a broad spectrum of academic, ethnic, socioeconomic, cultural and language backgrounds.

* Experience in actively engaging students to think critically while participating in the learning process.

* Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in nursing and its instructional program.

* Applicants must demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

* Ability to implement curriculum appropriate to the demands of a diverse student population.

* Perform other duties consistent with faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract.
