Job Details

Wells College seeks applicants for the full time, 11-month position of Head Athletic Trainer.  The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for all aspects of the Sports Medicine Office and administering proper care, prevention, training and support for the student athletes participating in the 15 NCAA Division III teams.   The Head Athletic Trainer reports to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The successful candidate will be specifically responsible for the following functions: provide treatment and rehabilitative care for student athletes; supervise contracted Assistant Athletic Trainers and student intern(s); coordinate with the team physician and the Community Health Center, the administration of the  pre-participation exam process and all “clear to play” decisions; assist student athletes and families with the insurance claim process; manage the athletic training budget; revise appropriate handbooks and emergency action procedures; maintain records for all intercollegiate athletic sports injuries; provide and coordinate sports medicine coverage for all home contests (and men’s lacrosse away contests); schedule athletic training coverage for all practice sessions; knowledge of and compliance with NCAA, conference and professional association (e.g. NATA) Health and Safety Guidelines; other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications: bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred); BOC certified in Athletic Training; licensed in New York State; certification in CPR/AED. At least 2 years athletic training/sports medicine (Graduate Assistantship included) experience preferred.
