The Mathematics Department is seeking a full-time, 9-month mathematics instructor for a position to begin during the Fall 2022 term.
Under general supervision, the Assistant Professor, Mathematics will develop, prepare and teach courses in mathematics. Teaching assignments may include intermediate algebra, college algebra, precalculus algebra, trigonometry, calculus 1-3, introductory differential equations, liberal arts mathematics, logic, linear algebra, and/or introductory statistics. Faculty may be assigned to SF’s main Northwest campus or housed at any of the College’s six educational centers. Additionally, course offerings may be taught during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats. Candidates must have the flexibility to teach at any one of these different sites and at different times throughout the academic year. Full-time faculty have a primary nine (9) month contract based on teaching 15 credit hours in the Fall and 15 credit hours in the Spring; teaching opportunities beyond contractual obligations, including during the summer may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need.
Responsibilities and Duties
Planning, organization, and instruction of mathematics classes to promote student success in the community college setting.
Working with other faculty to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to help ensure student mastery of course content.
Supporting the department mission, which centers on student learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, faculty scholarship, and service.
Assisting with implementing college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with college philosophy, mission, and procedures.
Participating in staff and committee work as requested.
Providing service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
Teaching in multiple environments, potentially including in classroom, on-line and hybrid environments, and also using Canvas, Santa Fe’s current Learning Management System.
Working a flexible schedule, possibly at multiple sites.
Providing guidance with issues of student performance and work in a constructive manner to ensure student success.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Chair, Mathematics Qualifications
Required: A Master’s or higher degree with 18 graduate hours in mathematics or statistics.
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: Teaching experience in a community college and/or university setting and familiarity with classroom technologies and productivity tools. Experience with online instruction and online math systems.
