We are seeking a microbiology research professional to join our Biological Materials and Biosynthesis Team through the New Materials Institute. The selected candidate will be a creative and devoted experimentalist, and will collaborate with other members of the team to develop new concepts and implement commercial biomaterial applications. The candidate will work closely with other team members to perfect methodologies and experimental techniques in microbial isolation, characterization and physiologic manipulation. We are seeking a candidate with a working knowledge of microbial physiology, isolation and characterization of microbes with unique metabolic characteristics from target environments and how to manipulate microbial physiology to explore new ideas in engineering greater productivity of microbial systems towards novel and commercially viable bio-products. Through individual and team research contributions, the candidate will help establish their team’s success in addressing technical challenges with global impact. This position will involve extensive hands-on laboratory work and coordination and ordering of laboratory supplies. THIS POSITION IS GRANT FUNDED FOR UP TO ONE YEAR. Implement experimentation for the isolation, characterization and optimization of microbial strains and conditions that positively affect microbial growth and bio-molecule synthesis for industrial scale fermentation systems.Percentage of time:
Execute assays, troubleshoot and analyze data of functional biological systems and contribute to proposals based on sponsor input and recently published research in the fields of experimentationPercentage of time:
