Organizational Unit Overview:

Housed within the College of Engineering and Technology, Technology Systems offers five undergraduate degrees, three masters’ degrees, four graduate professional certificates, and participates in a consortium-based PhD program. The department has 32 full-time faculty members and employs part time instructors as needed to serve approximately 1300 students.

Job Duties :

The College of Engineering and Technology seeks a 9-month Teaching Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor starting fall semester 2022 to teach, advise, and provide service in the Department of Technology Systems with a program focus in Mechanical Design Technology. Faculty members are expected to provide leadership in developing, teaching, and maintaining curriculum in the undergraduate Mechanical Design Technology program using both traditional and distance delivery methods. Teaching responsibilities will include lecture and laboratory courses in Mechanical Design Technology such as Engineering Graphics, Solid Modeling/Computer Aided Drafting with Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor, Jig and Fixture Design, 3D Printing/Rapid Prototyping/Additive Manufacturing, Descriptive Geometry, Machine and Tool Design, and design for manufacturability.

Minimum Education/Experience :

A master’s degree in engineering, technology, or a closely related field with emphasis on mechanical design. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience. All degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Preferred qualifications will include knowledge and teaching background in other CAD packages like SolidWorks, CATIA, and/or Pro-E. Candidates who aspire to integrate mechanical technology areas with Industry 4.0 concepts such as virtual prototyping/augmented reality and IIoT concepts would qualify well for the position.
