Position Summary:

The University of North Carolina Asheville Department of Music invites applications for a Lecturer in Music to begin Fall 2022.
The successful candidate will direct the Wind Ensemble and Pep Band and teach classes in Music Theory, Aural Skills, Applied Music, and other classes pending the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will also participate in recruiting activities, including making connections with area students and educators, and helping to coordinate departmental auditions.
A Master’s Degree is required, a Doctorate is preferred. Experience directing college-level ensembles and teaching college-level classes is strongly preferred. A candidate that has a demonstrated track record of professional performance on a wind instrument is preferred. A demonstrated record of successful recruiting and interfacing with the community is also preferred.

This commitment makes it essential for all faculty to be engaged in the current trends of their disciplines and this is demonstrated in the outstanding research and scholarship produced by the faculty.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach 12 contact hours per semester, engage in service to the institution, the community and the profession, and ideally work with our students in some area of the discipline specific to their expertise. Individuals with a passion for undergraduate teaching and interest in a career at an institution focused on the liberal arts are strongly encouraged to apply.
