The Department of Internal Medicine Division of Rheumatology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a candidate at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. M.D. Must be BC/BE in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Salary is negotiable. USF provides an excellent benefits package and enjoyable work environment.
CLINICAL DUTIES: He/she will practice primarily in the medical clinics with Fellows, Students and Residents.
RESEARCH DUTIES: The candidate will participate in clinical research in the division of rheumatology and educational research (including grant writing) and other scholarly activity. Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain a competitively funded research program and participate in interdisciplinary research in rheumatology.
TEACHING DUTIES: Expected teaching duties include teaching of the rheumatology fellows, medical residents, students and Skin & Bone 4th yr. medical student clerkship.
Must have a current, unrestricted medical license in the State of Florida or be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Florida. Candidates must be Board Certified in Rheumatology. Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate or Full Professor- Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
A history of teaching at the collegiate or graduate level or teaching of medical students and clinical house staff is desirable. A substantial record of published peer-reviewed manuscripts. Experience in Translational studies and/or Rheumatology studies focused on causes, treatment, and prevention of arthritis and musculoskeletal and skin diseases. NIH funding equivalent to 1 R01 grant related to Rheumatology or a robust clinical research program. Publishes meritorious primary research in prominent journals.History of building collaborative and interdisciplinary teams. Track record of generating patents.
