Description Looking for a driven, dedicated person who can take the bull by the horns to help us grow & handle the latest addition to programs at WSU Tech, the Associate’s in Nursing!! This is an amazing addition to the college, community & state as a whole for there to be another program students can apply to. We are doing our part to help get more trained in the healthcare field & we need a director that can do the same for our program & students. Job Summary:
This position is a Full-time Exempt level position. This position has 2 primary functions; Instruction and management. The Program Director is responsible for performing teaching duties in the assigned instructional modality during the day, evening, or weekend. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, academic planning, serving on various committees, recruiting, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations as needed. The management role of the Program Director includes the day-to-day operations, supervision of all employees, and the management of the overall health of the assigned programs.

Quick Glance of Duties and Responsibilities:
Classroom Management & Teaching/Instruction
    Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements. Evaluates students to measure their progress toward the achievement of course outcomes/competencies. Manages and supervises students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.Maintains industry credentials as appropriate to the teaching area. Develops, revises, and/or recommends curriculum changes which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning. As well as reviews, evaluates, and recommends student textbooks and learning materials.Ensures each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standard, includes all appropriate curricular components, utilizes effective teaching methods/practices (pedagogy) and reflects current field practices.Teaches all classes according to an approved course syllabus, ensuring that assigned classes are held as scheduled.  Plans each unit or lesson, both as to content and method. Provides lesson plans to the appropriate dean or designee.  Publishes lesson plans on course syllabus. 

Programmatic and Institutional EngagementFully participates in, utilizes and submits when due program review information, assessment data, and course/college evaluations. Develops, and maintains a positive relationship with program Industry Advocate Teams (IAT) members.  Recruits new members to serve on IAT committees.Actively participates in student recruitment and retention activities including but not limited to high school visits and college activities. Serves on and provides information to college committees, as needed.
  Program Director Responsibilities
    Acts as point of contact for all Licensure/Certification/Credential information for program or courses.Completes and submits self-study documents, coordinates site visits and completes annual reports and other accreditation reports and communications, if applicable.Assists Dean with scheduling program courses each semester.Supervises/evaluates/mentors other full-time and adjunct faculty in the program/departmentPractices, teaches, and incorporates accepted and mandated safety procedures into the curriculum. Assists dual credit faculty with course crosswalk and other relevant instruction information.Responsible for Program Review process including documentation of analysis and proposed action plan.Schedules and facilitates all Industry Advocate Team meetings and communication with IAT members & attend all IAT meetings.Assists Dean with yearly budget preparation and provides and utilizes management strategies to keep the program fiscally viable.

Position Specific ResponsibilitiesInvolvement in statewide groups and organizations, such as KSBN & KCADNE, to stay abreast of current and ongoing modifications in the field regarding practices, training and education.Maintains collegiate relationships/networks with WSU School of Nursing & other regional programs. Expands & nurtures relationships/networks with community partners & clinical sites.
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in teaching at any level, required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in nursing field, required.
  • Obtains at own expense yearly TB test and other immunizations or physical examinations as required by clinical sites. Also, CPR certification obtained prior to going to clinical sites.
  • Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred, with pre-planning course work.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills where you can work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn & use personal computer and various software programs utilized daily in a teaching environment, strong Microsoft Office skills. 
  • Comfortable with course delivery method being hybrid as needed.


  • Pay Rate: $78,000 /yr
    Schedule: M-F 8a-5p generally; South Campus
