Job Description

The Particle Gel Conformance Control Center (http://web.mst.edu/~baib/) at Missouri University of Science & Technology, is seeking one highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow starting at early 2022.

Roles:
1. Develop green crosslinkers for polymer gel applications in oilfields, which usually have high salinity and high temperature.
2. Develop stable swelling materials for gas leakage control.
3. Develop high-temperature stable polymer gels for geothermal reservoirs.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Ph.D. degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Petroleum Engineering is preferred. Research experience related to the oil industry is a plus.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The candidates with experience in monomer and polymer structure design, hydrogel synthesis are required, and the experience with self-healing material and pilot production is a plus. Specifically, the ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

    • Familiar with monomer and soluble polymer design using vinyl-based or other commercial monomers.

    • Experience with polymer synthesis, including bulk, solution, emulsion, and controlled free radical polymerization mechanisms and reagents. Familiar with swelling materials of good hydrothermal stability and/or hydrogels is a plus.

    • Familiar with mechanism, composition, and design of self-healing materials.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; team-oriented and collaborative approach.
