University of Florida Seeking Chief of Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism

The Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism will provide strategic vision and leadership for the clinical, educational, research and professional development initiatives of this nationally recognized and expanding program. Applicants should be at the Professor or Associate Professor rank, either tenured or non-tenure track.

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is comprised of a dynamic and diverse group of 19 faculty members and 7 fellows providing a full range of clinical services, including general consultative endocrinology/diabetes care for inpatients and outpatients, and subspecialty care in the areas of Obesity, Thyroid, Bone, Pituitary, Adrenal, Transgender, Diabetes Technology and peri-transplant medicine. The Division has a robust clinical operation and cares for over 28,000 patients each year (inpatient >10,000 and >18,000 outpatient). The Division has 7 faculty members that staff at the Malcom Randal VA Medical Center, one of the largest and productive VA’s in the country. More importantly, the Division has up-trending momentum and has expanded its clinical and research presence within the University of Florida System.

The Division maintains a substantial and sustained commitment to research and discovery at the basic, clinical, and translational level. Currently, the division has funded faculty members with projects spanning from basic research on mitochondrial metabolic diseases and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease to health service research in the field of thyroid disease. The division is publishing more than 55-60 peer review publication each year.

The Division is also dedicated to excellence in medical education. Many faculty members have received institutional recognition for instructional excellence. The fellowship program has rapidly expanded over the last 10 years and continues to do so; it is currently the second largest endocrine training program in Florida and a leader nationally in training in diabetes and thyroid diseases. The inpatient consult service in endocrinology has been widely recognized by the College of Medicine and has received several awards for outstanding service.
