Position Summary::The Research and Assessment Analyst will collect, retrieve, organize, and analyze data required for institutional research, effectiveness, and decision-making processes of the college. The coordinator works in support of the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and SACSCOC accreditation teams. The coordinator will work closely with the college community to create and maintain data files necessary to support institutional research and effectiveness, monitor accreditation standards as applied to the institution and assist in the development and execution of surveys and other instruments used to measure and improve college operations.
Staff Required Education/Experience::Associate degree with training in social science, information technology or related field and at least 5 years related experience in Institutional Effectiveness and Research or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Knowledge: Expert knowledge of Excel, Microsoft word and PowerPoint, including use of pivot tables, macros, etc. Proficiency in data extraction from comprehensive information systems. Knowledge of Business Objects and data warehousing. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and to use descriptive statistics and research methods.
Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills and exceptional written and oral communications skills. Ability to multi-task and meet hard deadlines. Using survey tools; performing mathematical and statistical applications.
Bachelor’s degree in social science, information technology or related field and 2 years’ experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::General knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques; statistics or social science research techniques; knowledge of common organization-specific computer application programs; knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive data (for example, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA).
(2) Proven ability to present information in a clear concise manner verbally and in writing. Skill in writing procedures, guidelines, and application documentation. Understanding of organizational rules and regulations.
(3) Adept in using tools like PowerBI, SQL and others, for the purpose of presenting stakeholders with a consistent, useful, and accurate view of their data along with insight in how it can be understood and used to improve business functions.
(4) Strong ability to download, merge, manipulate, analyze, and report on large amounts of complex data from various campus and departmental sources.
(5) Knowledge of financial, admissions, enrollment, academic personnel, human resources, space and contracts and grant awards data.

Duty and Responsibility::Supports the Office of Institutional Research in completing formal and ad-hoc data requests; manages metadata and data definitions for end-users; and maintains a data report library and utilizes statistical methods such as descriptive and inferential statistics including multiple and logistics regression.
Serve as college liaison with the North Carolina Community College System for meeting deadlines and other requirements for data and ensuring full college compliance with NCCCS Annual Reporting Plan. Works with the Director of Institutional Research to administer policies, standards and procedures for strategic data planning, data analysis and modeling, and data element standardization and use to ensure accurate, useful, and readily accessible data.
Coordinates with IT Enterprise database administrators and systems administrators regarding the design/implementation and business practice approaches to campus-wide data needs; and promotes the development and execution of data policies, business practices, data counting and procedures that properly manage the full data life cycle needs of institutional data; identifies data quality issues and work with appropriate staff to resolve issues and processes as needed.
Ensures that the campus is compliant with rules governing institutional data collection set forth by various external reporting agencies such as Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).

Understand and project enrollment trends, explain demographic trends, current student trends. Design surveys, consulting on question development to avoid survey bias; interpret articulated needs into survey instrument to query, retrieve, compile, analyze, and report outcomes for user. Organize, interpret, and communicate information to non-technical and technical users. Write and deliver executive-level documents, communications, and presentations.
Collaborate on and provide support for SACSCOC- related and state-required accreditation processes at the college. Sponsor and coordinate long and short-range planning activities and projects
Support culture of evidence; provide research-related data in an effective and timely manner for planning decision-making purposes to departments and requestors.
Produce enrollment reports, FTE reports, grade distributing, trend analysis, state & federal reports, the Fact Book and student characteristics studies.
Provide end-user support for day-to-day administration and monitoring. Provide administrative support on desktop software for production of reports, charts and graphs, including the creation, manipulation and analyses of data in pivot tables.
Provide training and support classes with end users; serve as information resource and planning consultant for faculty, staff, administration, and other constituencies of the College.
