The Community Colleges offer two-year liberal arts degrees as well as certificate programs in technical, career and occupational fields. The Colleges make their educational efforts available to a varied population within which specific skills may be lacking in basic subject areas necessary for success in higher education.
The SSS (Student Support Services) Program Specialist manages remedial and supplemental tutoring and skill building training to improve student proficiency in a specific subject area such as mathematics, science or reading/writing at a Community College.
Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
Bachelor degree in education, special education or a closely related field with (1) or more years experience with higher educational support programming; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Experience in academic and skills assessment methods.
- Experience with physical and learning disabilities.
- Experience with remedial, developmental and adult education methods and techniques.
- Experience with Student support and development.

- Experience working in a college summer bridge program.

Under the Grant Project Director or a Student Affairs Administrator The SSS Program Specialist is accountable for providing the remedial and learning assistance needed to improve students’ proficiency in general student development through effective performance in these essential functional areas:
- Program development;
- Service delivery;
- Training, development and direction of staff and student workers;
