Required:

Experience in an educational setting working with people of diverse backgrounds.

Proficient with computers for testing maintenance as well as documentation with Word, Excel, or Publisher.

Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.

Preferred:

Master’s Degree in Student personnel, Education, Psychology, Sociology or related field.

Two years of experience at the post-secondary level; experience with testing administration.

Primary Responsibilities:

Summary
Function: The Director has administrative responsibility for the areas of Testing and Career Services, as well as all related programming.

Duties
Administer the University testing program which includes administration of all standardized national and state tests offered at the University for admission and assessment; administer and evaluate placement examinations for new students, provide proper documentation for Advisement of said students, provide accommodation testing for students with disabilities; maintain all test files, records and test security; responsible for ordering testing resources and providing reports and documentation as required by testing companies, update computers for testing as needed and maintain required training for computer testing. Administer and maintain all other testing materials as appropriate, such as personality inventories, academic and study skills assessments, and vocational inventories; supervise temporary test administrators and proctors; prepare and present programs and workshops to university groups; provide individual and group career counseling and assessment which includes the administration and interpretation of vocational inventories; maintain local, regional and national job boards pertinent to student needs; publish blog on university website and maintain job bulletin and website job board. Maintain office website to include data on testing, job fairs, job postings, and career resource links; produce a job fair for the spring and fall semester and facilitate on campus recruiting; communicate with recruiters via fax, phone, email, or mail; committee work as assigned. Assist with the development of internships for students as well as job shadowing opportunities. Maintain job postings for student worker and temporary positions on people admin platform, assist department staff with the people admin platform. Complete annual assessments for quality evaluation for department. Create marketing tools for promotion of job fairs, events, or testing. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all time.

Supervision
Received: Report to Dean of Student Life.
Given: Supervise proctors, and student workers.

Working Conditions
Usual: General office conditions; responsible for physical test facility arrangements; oversee a number of Saturday/Sunday test administrations; exempt from overtime provisions. Position is Security Sensitive

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. Called "Possibly the most underrated little university west of the Mississippi" by CBS's Dan Rather, Sul Ross State University in West Texas boasts a combination of small class sizes, an appreciation of both fine arts and the sciences and popular professional programs in a relaxed, friendly environment.

Who Is Sul Ross? Where is Sul Ross?
The university's name honors Lawrence Sullivan "Sul" Ross, the son of a pioneer Waco, Texas, family and a popular soldier, governor, educator and humanitarian. Founded in 1917 as a teacher college, Sul Ross continues to offer teacher education as one of its most popular programs. Others in high demand are business, criminal justice and agricultural and natural resource sciences. Sul Ross achieved university status in 1969.

The university, comprising 647 acres in Alpine, Texas, boasts a beautiful 93-acre main campus of exquisitely-detailed buildings and enjoys perhaps the most temperate climate in the state. Its situation in the Davis Mountains overlooks the center of the city below, yet it remains within easy reach of many local stores and restaurants. The university also has a 468-acre working ranch that serves its animal science programs.

A Small Size, But Plenty to Do
With an enrollment of about 2,000 students on the main campus in Alpine, class sizes are small, guaranteeing a much higher level of personal attention from instructors and the university's support staff. But there's plenty for students to do in their free time: lots of student clubs and organizations, a thriving arts community and a strong athletic tradition.

The SRSU men's basketball team won the conference championship five times in the past 20 years, including the 1999 American Southwest Conference championship. The women's basketball team has also won five conference championships and played in eight national playoffs, even making it to the Final Four.

Similarly, the Lobos football and baseball teams have won five conference titles each in the past 20 years, including American Southwest Conference championships in the late 1990s. The Lady Lobos volleyball team has won nine conference championships in all.

Rodeo is significant part of the Sul Ross program, and the university is the birthplace of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Many team members have gone on to become world champions, and 1951 graduate Harley May is a charter member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Hall of Fame.
