Job Description:


Full-time, year-round position responsible for managing all server related functions of the Information Technology department. Oversees the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and upgrading of the College's server, storage, security, and computing infrastructure.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Provides oversight of the College's server environment including selection, installation, operation, support, and maintenance of servers, SAN/NAS storage devices, security solutions, and all other IT server related hardware.
  2. Oversees daily operations of the IT Department for End-User Support Analysts (i.e. Help Desk support and Service calls). Assign and prioritize calls coming in to the Help Desk.
  3. Leads selection and coordinates the installation, support, and maintenance of PC, laptop, printer, and other peripheral hardware.
  4. Facilitates the College's annual IT security risk assessment; collaborates with the Network Systems Analyst to manage security vulnerabilities.
  5. Manages and monitors the College's server hardware and operating system software environment to include (but not limited to) Active Directory, ESX server hardware and software, VMWare, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, and camera system hardware and software.
  6. Performs review of security architecture, information security administration, support and maintenance of data backup, disaster recovery, and all related procedures.
  7. Collaborates with Network Systems Analyst in the investigation of actual or potential network/server security incidents; provides regular reporting on network security issues.
  8. Performs server operating system administration, updates and upgrades on all servers. Performs firmware updates on servers and storage devices.
  9. Provides annual security awareness training for faculty, staff, and administration.
  10. Oversees operation, support and maintenance of the College's telecommunication system.
  11. Collaborates with IT department staff in the evaluation of new software and hardware systems.
  12. Coordinates the maintenance of the optical imaging system which includes, but is not limited to: providing problem determination assistance, contacting the hardware manufacturer for maintenance information, contacting the hardware manufacturer to schedule maintenance, etc.
  13. Coordinates with Network Systems Analyst to ensure Payment Card Industry (PCI) certification is achieved; oversees PCI compliance efforts (e.g., vulnerability scanning and penetration testing).
  14. Participates in budget recommendations for IT operations and manages assigned departmental cost centers.
  15. Responsible for coordinating, documenting, and implementing all unit action planning, outcomes assessment, and institutional effectiveness efforts within the scope of administrative supervision.
  16. Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on all college campuses and centers.
  17. Monitors and promotes progress toward meeting the goals and objectives of the College's Equity Update report.
  18. Acts in accordance with College policies and procedures.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


Educational: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field required. (In lieu of Bachelor's degree requirement, a minimum of server/security industry certifications or an Associate degree in computer science or a computer related field, and at least five years' experience with a servers environment or security may substitute).


Experiential: Minimum of five years' experience with server hardware, ESX environment, VMWare, SAN/NAS architecture, and Windows/LINUX servers required. Must have experience in a supervisory role. Experience with backup systems, security, and telecommunications preferred.


Other: Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines. Must possess excellent problem-solving, analytical, and evaluative skills. Strong project management, customer service, organizational, and time management skills required. Ability to conduct research on complex IT issues and products required. Must be a self-motivated individual with an understanding and appreciation of community college mission and purpose.
