Job Summary/Basic Function::

Nestled between the scenic Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound in an increasingly diverse and fast-growing region of the country, Everett Community College is seeking a tenure-track Arts instructor to begin serving in the Fall quarter of 2022.

These positions are located in the Counseling & Student Success Department. Counselors in this department are available to all EvCC students.

Direct counseling duties will include:

  • Short-term educational, personal/mental health and career counseling
  • Interventions in urgent student situations
  • Academic advising for students pursuing Human Service transfer degrees and those undecided about their program of study
  • Interventions for students in Satisfactory Academic Progress system
  • Referral to campus and community resources

Additional counseling duties will include:
  • Participation in campus outreach and trainings
  • Consultation with faculty and staff on behalf of students
  • Participation in department meetings and projects
  • Case consultation
  • Professional development
  • Campus committee work

Counselors may also teach Human Development courses as an overload to their counseling position. Courses include Career and Life Planning, Stress Management, Math Anxiety, Diversity in the Workplace etc.
Through our Guided Pathways Advising model, full-time Instructional and Counseling faculty serve as program advisors for students. Faculty in these areas are assigned a caseload each year in line with the AFT Faculty Contract. These duties include, but are not limited to building and maintaining professional relationships with advisees to support them in their goals, creating, reviewing and approving academic plans; providing career and/or transfer advice; and making referrals to appropriate EvCC support services.

Minimum Qualifications::

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education or a closely related field
  • Coursework to include: counseling fundamentals, counseling theory, cultural competency, career counseling, assessment/test and measurements, counseling practicum and counseling internship
  • College level counseling experience providing educational, career, personal/mental health counseling
  • Demonstrated experience counseling historically underserved students and communities
  • Experience that demonstrates an intersectional framework for defining diversity in its broadest sense, including but not limited to differences in race, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, class, religion, sexual orientation, citizen status and ability

Preferred Qualifications::

  • Demonstrated experience providing comprehensive counseling services (i.e. educational, personal/mental health and career counseling) to community college students
  • Demonstrated experience responding to crises/urgent student needs and using/developing campus and community referral networks
  • Demonstrated experience providing telehealth and using various technology platforms to offer counseling sessions and keep records (i.e. Zoom, Doxy.Me, Titanium, Starfish, PeopleSoft, WOIS Career Planner etc.).
  • Licensed with Washington State Department of Health (e.g., LMHC, LMFT, LSWA, LSWIC, psychologist)
  • Bilingual or multilingual

Salary:

$66,288 - $69,602 Fall to Spring
