Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Director of International Student Services leads the planning and execution of a wide range of services for international students. The Director shall facilitate opportunities for international students in making successful academic, cultural, and social progress from their matriculation through their graduation.

Responsibilities:

The Director provides support, advice and programming for Hamilton's diverse community of international students and will develop, design, and implement programs needed to support and enrich their experience at Hamilton College. These programs will help international students make successful academic, cultural, and social progress from their matriculation through graduation. This includes providing leadership for the planning and implementation of international student orientation, serving as an advisor to international student organizations, and oversight of the International Friendship Program (IFP) and Peer Mentoring Project. The director will also collaborate with campus partners on college-wide cultural awareness events and career-related options after graduation.

The Director provides oversight for all SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) compliance functions and serves as the college’s Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). Responsibilities include the administration of the international program’s bi-annual recertification process and full regulatory oversight leading to a precise schedule of SEVIS reportable events and registrations as required by current immigration regulations.

The Director serves as a liaison for the campus community on international student issues, makes referrals to relevant campus support as required, and supports key enrollment management strategies, as well as initiatives related to international students. The Director also collaborates with campus partners, including the Director of the Days-Massolo Center, the Office of Residential Life, ALEX (Advise, Learn, Experience) advisors, the Off-Campus Studies Office, the Academic Resource Centers, and others, to build and integrate a seamless holistic experience for the college’s international student population.

The Director also maintains and updates the International Student Services website and is responsible for other related duties as requested.


Qualifications:

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor's degree.

• Five to eight years of formal experience in international student services as a DSO.

• Exceptional level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical capabilities.

• Exceptional intercultural, interpersonal and communication skills.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to serve as a DSO.

Desired:

• Master's degree in international education or a related field.

• A proven ability to work effectively with students and stakeholders.

• Fluency in multiple languages.

• Experience living abroad.
