Director, Football Social Media & Creative Strategy - Football

This position will develop and execute a strategic, creative vision for the University of Tennessee Football program, focused primarily on the generation and publishing of digital content for both external audiences, current student-athletes and prospective student-athletes. Foster a team atmosphere across creative units (football, communication staff, 151 creative, VFL Films & fan experience) in which collaboration, ingenuity, new ideas and risk taking are prioritized.

Manage a team of multiple full-time content creators and undergraduate assistants. Help build brand of Vol Football, along with Assistant AD, Digital & Creative Strategy, Assistant AD, Football Communications and football staff. Work within and abide by NCAA compliance rules.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborate and work closely in conjunction with other athletic department creative units (VFL Films, 151 Creative) to ideate, executive and publish cutting-edge content that enhances Tennessee Football’s unique brand through bold storytelling and visual elements.
• Work closely with members of the football staff to develop external and recruiting messaging, advance digital recruiting strategies, generate recruiting content and when assigned, involved in recruiting visits.
• Generate and distribute content to student-athletes using INFLCR software, and maintain a vision for the future, especially in regard to name, image and likeness (NIL).
• Provide digital, social media and brand building education to student-athletes in regard to NIL.
• Work alongside football recruiting staff to provide brand building education & materials to coaching staff. Work closely with Director of NIL.
• Serve as liaison between the football and creative staffs to ensure cohesiveness and timeliness in content production. Initiate and attend creative meetings to distribute and pitch content plans to creative units – VFL Films, 151 Creative, Fan Experience. Develop & manage content calendar and serve as publisher for @Vol_Football social media accounts.
• Manage and mentor a football creative staff that consists of an assistant director of content, graphic designer and undergraduate students.
• Work along side Football recruiting staff to assign, delegate and produce recruiting content with the creative team.
• Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree is required;
Master’s Degree is preferred.

Experience:
Experience in digital content, creative, or athletic communications with a track record of innovation that showcases management of a sizeable and/or highly active digital inventory.
It’s preferable that this individual has previous experience collaborating in a Division I or professional sports environment, including as a publisher of a team social media account. Previous experience involving the recruitment of prospective student-athletes also is preferred, but not a requirement.

Skills:
• This individual must possess a demonstrated ability for strategic thinking and basic public relations sensibilities.
• This individual also must possess strong writing and verbal communications skills as well as the ability to lead a team in a collaborative manner. • Certain technical knowledge is required, including proficiency in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as demonstrated experience with software such as the Adobe Creative Suite.
• A willingness to work within and abide by NCAA, SEC and institutional compliance rules also is required.
• Preferred:
o The ability to develop and execute a comprehensive strategic vision aimed at enhancing the Tennessee football brand;
o The ability to create compelling and engaging digital content;
o The ability to productively collaborate and communicate across multiple departments.
