LECTURER
Job Description:The University of Florida Levin College of Law seeks a non-tenure-track Legal Skills Professor to serve as the instructor and director for our newly funded Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (“LITC”). This is a wonderful opportunity for a licensed attorney with substantial experience representing clients in disputes with the IRS and a passion for clinical legal education. We welcome applications from licensed attorneys already working in legal academia as well as practicing lawyers seeking to transition to legal academia.
The successful candidate will launch, teach, and administer the clinic and join a faculty committed to innovation and leadership in experiential learning. The primary duty of this 12-month faculty position will be to teach and supervise students working on cases involving tax controversy matters for indigent clients. The successful candidate will ensure that clients receive high-quality representation and students experience the effective, ethical, and reflective practice of tax law litigation; and, will work with students to screen cases that are appropriate for the clinic and accept cases for the clinic as the lawyer of record. Outside of the fall and spring semesters, the successful candidate also will ensure that cases appropriately proceed without student involvement. Finally, the successful candidate will administer the clinic, ensuring compliance with college and university policies, ABA standards, and grant requirements while also applying for grants and otherwise managing funding streams.
The successful candidate will be licensed to practice law, possess a strong track record of representing clients in disputes with the IRS, and be committed to excellence in clinical teaching, including by creating an inclusive environment for all students.
The Levin College of Law fosters a diverse and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students, and we welcome applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
