Texas Christian University (TCU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Teresa Ann Carter King Dean of the College of Fine Arts.
TCU is a private university located in Fort Worth, Texas. It is classified as a top 100 National University by US News and World Report and has a Carnegie Classification of R2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity. The University has a $2.3 billion endowment and enrolls over 11,900 students, including approximately 10,200 undergraduate and 1,700 graduate students.
The College of Fine Arts serves more than 950 undergraduate students, 79 graduate students and has a staff of more than 100 full-time faculty, 35 full-time staff and around 100 adjunct faculty. Students in the College pursue studies in 33 undergraduate degree programs, 26 advanced degree programs and five minors offered through the College’s six units which include: School of Art, School for Classical & Contemporary Dance, Department of Design, Department of Fashion Merchandising, School of Music and Department of Theatre.
The Teresa Ann Carter King Dean of the College of Fine Arts is the chief administrative, academic, budgetary and advancement officer for the College. The Dean provides creative vision and leadership for the College while serving as a leader across the University, the region and globally. The Dean fosters collaborative opportunities on behalf of the College both internally and externally to engage students, faculty, and industry partners and further the College mission and must be an advocate for the College and its component academic units both inside and outside the academy. The Dean reports to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg and serves as a member of the Provost’s Council.
The Dean will hold a terminal degree in a field of study within one of the six areas of the College of Fine Arts, or in a closely related discipline and offer a distinguished record of achievement in teaching and scholarship/creative activity worthy of tenure in the College of Fine Arts. A record of success as an academic leader/administrator, strong communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrable commitment to inclusive excellence and ability to ensure a welcoming, nurturing and equitable environment for a diverse community of faculty, staff and students is required.
