Nature of Work:

The Translational Breast Cancer Research Group is seeking a highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented individual to work with a team of interdisciplinary investigators focused on mechanisms of breast cancer drug resistance and metastasis. The candidate will assist the Sartorius/Kabos laboratories, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students with their ongoing research projects. Opportunities for self-directed projects and advancement exist for exceptionally motivated individuals. This position will involve work with breast cancer cell lines, animal models, and patient specimens. Because of the nature of our studies, some night and weekend work may occasionally be required, with advance notice.  The laboratory environment is team-oriented, where motivation and dedication are rewarded.

Examples of Work Performed:

This position will involve molecular biology techniques, including routine cell culture, RNA/DNA technologies including CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and preparing samples for next generation sequencing, protein immunoblotting, and immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry. Animal work includes maintenance of patient-derived xenografts including surgical implantation, advanced in vivo imaging, drug treatments, and tissue collection. The individual will gain experience in working with primary patient samples for primary cell/organoid culture and genomic analysis. Good skills in data analysis and summary are required. Responsibilities will also include general laboratory maintenance. The induvial will have excellent communication skills and be able to work with other individuals, as well as within group research settings, keep good records, and have good organizational skills.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $47,697 to $60,670.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in basic or applied sciences, preferably molecular biology or biochemistry or related from an accredited college or university.At least one year of related experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Previous experience with molecular biology techniques including RNA/DNA isolation, tissue culture, immunohistochemistry. Prior work with rodent models is desired.One or more years of working experience as a PRA or equivalent position.Good verbal and written communication skills and understanding of scientific literature.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with general molecular biology laboratory techniques.
  • An understanding of molecular and cell biology is required.
  • Excellence with Microsoft Office and able to learn and utilize software for various technical equipment.
