Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Security Officer. This position provides security patrol services 24 hours/day, 365 days/year for the university. The current vacancy works the 6 p.m. – 4 a.m. shift four days/week with rotating days off, but applicants must be able to work any shift with rotating days off. Full-time employees are eligible for health and life insurance, paid time off, retirement plan, and tuition assistance benefits.

Successful applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal U.S. residents eligible for employment; be at least 21 years of age; possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent; and have a valid U.S. driver’s license with minimal violations from state of residence. Candidates must also have strong verbal and written communication skills including listening effectively; relating well to others; collecting and documenting information quickly, accurately, and thoroughly; and writing succinct reports. Additionally, applicants must have excellent multitasking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, as well as abilities to work independently and as a team member, and remain levelheaded and provide support during emergencies and crises. Also needed is a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging and a willingness to learn and grow in the position.

Candidates must be able to achieve and maintain Virginia campus security officer certification. Applicants with law enforcement, campus security, private security, or related military experience are preferred. The selected candidate will be subject to criminal history and motor vehicle background checks.
