Position Summary

The Laboratory of Dr. Mendoza-Cortes at MSU is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate interested in combining Machine Learning, atomistic simulations and/or theoretical frameworks. This position is aimed to develop machine learning techniques along with a theoretical framework to improve our physical understanding of chemical systems and accelerate materials discovery. In your role as postdoctoral researcher, your duties include help with training graduate and undergraduate students, aid in grants development, aid in developing research in materials science, engineering, condensed matter science, programming, and scripting. This position is initially for one year, renewable annually based on performance and the availability of funding. The position includes salary and fringe benefits for 1 year.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in materials science, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field by the start of the position. The ideal candidate will have a strong chemistry background and significant experience with first-principles theoretical simulations of materials, quantum-field methods and/or machine learning techniques.

Desired Qualifications

The candidate must be an expert in first-principles atomistic quantum simulations, machine learning or data-science. Strong theoretical and computational background is desired.
