The Business School has an opening for a Career Consultant position. Individuals will be hired at the level which they qualify, as determined by the hiring team in partnership with Human Resources.

Nature of Work

Intermediate Level:
At the intermediate level, Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the professional level, duties may be more limited in scope, may be performed with guidance and direction from other professionals, or may be performed in a training and development capacity.

Senior Level:

Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.  Work is performed fully independently.

Principal Level:

Principal Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed at an advanced or expert level. Principal Professionals are either work leads over others or are considered a subject matter expert in a particular area.

Position Emphasis:

The Career Consultant meets with undergraduate and graduate Business School students and alumni to advise on Resumes, LinkedIn Profiles, Job and Industry Targeting, Networking, Interviewing, and other pertinent career and professional development topics. (50% of effort) Interacts with faculty, school clubs, associations, strategic employer partners, and other clients of the Business School. Through networking and relationship building, connects students and employers for mutually beneficial relationships. (40% of effort)

Participates in student and alumni outreach events that include Workshops, Career Fairs, Information Sessions,  and Business School club events. (10% of effort)

Examples of Work Performed

• Meets with undergraduate and graduate Business School students and alumni to advise on Resumes, LinkedIn Profiles, Job and Industry Targeting, Networking, Interviewing, and other pertinent career and professional development topics.

• Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with businesses, non-profits, and government organizations on behalf of the University and its students and faculty for the purpose of identifying top talent for employers, career opportunities for students and graduates, connections for faculty, clubs and student groups and sponsorship for the BCC and Business School.

• Meets with employers to identify new opportunities and promotes talent from the Business School.

• Ensures students are aware of career opportunities, and employers are receiving quality candidates.

• Utilizes BCC database to enhance student outreach.

• Serves as a liaison between students, the university, university services (CU Denver Career Center, Experiential Learning Center, etc.) and Business School Departments (RMI, Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship, J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities, CITI, GEM, etc.).

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at

Intermediate:  $48,000-$53,000
Senior Professional:  $53,000-$58,000
Principal Professional:  $58,000-$64,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications:
