About Binghamton University:

The state of New York provided $60 million to establish a School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University. The school, which enrolled its inaugural PharmD class in 2017, is housed in a state-of-the-art, 105,000 square-foot building dedicated to research and education and located at the University's new Health Sciences Campus. The school's outstanding pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences leaders use contemporary medication management and innovative research to transform human health locally and globally. The research and clinically focused school is training the next generations of graduates to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered pharmaceutical care to diverse groups of patients, especially those in underserved rural and geriatric communities. Our new pharmacy simulations laboratory houses a hospital pharmacy with a 797-compliant sterile room, community pharmacy with a robotic dispenser, patient home setting, and three hospital rooms complete with electrocardiographic/respiratory/hemodynamic monitoring and high-fidelity manikins.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The PhD program is opening in 2022 and will be renowned for its contributions to translational, clinical and outcomes research within the changing landscape of drug development, pharmacy practice and clinical science.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and sustain a vigorous research program to be supported by external funding
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, assessment, and course coordination. Teaching contributions are determined according to the successful applicant's expertise and needs of the school. Applicants who can deliver a required biostatistics course for PharmD, MS, and PhD students and contribute to one or more of the following courses are preferred: public health and global health problems; population health and study design evaluation; health care delivery; and pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, and health outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship to students, including research mentorship of PharmD and graduate students.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence through teaching, research and service at the School and University levels, as appropriate.

Requirements:

Applicants must have earned a PhD, DrPH, ScD, MPH, or a PharmD with additional training in an appropriate field of study that demonstrates potential for success in scholarship and teaching at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants who have completed post-doctoral research training or who have prior experience in health care-related programs are preferred.

History

Binghamton University opened its doors as Triple Cities College in 1946, to serve the needs of local veterans returning from service in World War II. Originally located in Endicott, N.Y., five miles west of the present campus, the fledgling school was a branch of Syracuse University.

Four years later, the college was incorporated into the State University of New York (SUNY) and renamed Harpur College in honor of Robert Harpur, a Colonial teacher, patriot and pioneer who helped settle the area west of Binghamton.

In 1961, the campus moved across the Susquehanna River to Vestal. Growing enrollment and a reputation for excellence soon led to the selection of Harpur College as one of four doctorate-granting University Centers in the SUNY system.

In 1965, the campus was formally designated the State University of New York at Binghamton, and in 1992, Binghamton University was adopted as our informal name.
