Job Details

The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Alabama invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning August 2022. Salary is commensurate with degree and experience. The Department of Mathematics offers BA, BS, and MS degrees in Mathematics. Review of applications will being immediately and continue until the position has been filled.

Teaching responsibilities will include beginning- to advanced-level undergraduate mathematics courses as well as online graduate mathematics courses. The regular annual teaching load is 24 credits. Applicants must have an ongoing program of scholarly work with the potential for involvement with undergraduate or graduate students, have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, be willing to take an active role in curriculum development and program assessment, be knowledgeable of current trends in math education including the use of instructional technology to enhance students’ learning, and be willing to work as a collegial team member as well as a community resource when appropriate. Other expectations include serving on departmental and university committees as requested.

The successful applicant must hold a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or a related field by August 2022. ABD candidates will be considered, provided all degree requirements are met by the time of appointment.  Strong preference will be given to candidates with expertise in analysis or other closely-related areas.
