Wireless Network Engineer (IT Administrator III)

The University of Tennessee’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) seeking qualified applicants for a Wireless Network Engineer position.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for enterprise wireless network design, implementation, and administration including the creation of RF plans; distribution and control system architecture; high availability and redundancy solutions; access, authentication and authorization (AAA) services; security solutions; and monitoring and reporting.


This position will also:
Administer and support general campus networking including wired, WAN, security, and remote access in a backup role to other team members.
Perform general network on-call duties including occasional evening, week-end, and holiday support.
Assist with general network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Troubleshoot and resolve network problems including Help Desk tickets and Network Operations Center (NOC) requests.
Provide Tier 2 wireless client troubleshooting and support
 



Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:


REQUIRED
A Bachelor's Degree and 5 years general network administration, design, and wireless administration experience including 3 years of wireless network design, system administration, and network client support or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


PREFERERRED
A Bachelor's Degree and 7 years general network administration, design, and wireless administration experience including 5 years of wireless network design, system administration, and network client support or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES
REQUIRED
Knowledge of wireless network design, wired network design, systems administration, and network authentication.
Ability to design and implement both general and wireless network solutions
Ability to administer and support both general and wireless network solutions
Skills in the following areas:
Networking (switching, routing), wireless networking (design, support, surveys), systems administration, end-user support, network authentication systems, network security, scripting

PREFERERRED
Controller based wireless design, support, administration in an Aruba/HPE environment; mDNS proxy solutions for AirPlay, Google Cast sharing on enterprise networks; Server Redundancy/Clustering; RF design, planning, troubleshooting in high-capacity, device dense environments; Role-based firewall policies


RHEL/CentOS Linux administration; Scripting languages (ex. Python, Perl); RADIUS administration; 802.1x Authentication; Wired Cisco and Arista networking; Change/version control (Git)
Relevant certifications in Networking, Wireless, IT Security, or similar.
