The Tickle College of Engineering, Office of the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for a full-time Student Success Recruiter. This position supports the student success initiatives for TCE's Academic and Student Affairs with a priority on recruitment. The student success recruiter develops and coordinates strategic recruitment initiatives for their territory designed to attract competitive in and out of state students.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

    Represents TCE at recruitment events.Executes an outreach plan, including outbound calling and emailing students and counselors.Creates and fosters partnerships with high school counselors, alumni, community college partners, and the community. Gives presentations, support ongoing recruitment events, develop new initiatives, coordinate with advising and student success committees for strategic recruitment initiatives, and serves as liaison with faculty and staff involved with the admissions process.Coordinates with admissions office and the college relevant offices (e.g., Women in Engineering, Diversity, Communications, Advising) and student success committees (e.g., outreach, retention, scholarship, first year programs) as well as the Academic and Student Affairs main office to stay well informed about college priorities and initiatives to enable strategic planning of annual recruitment activities. Manages the strategically identified geographic areas by creating and executing on a Territory Strategic Plan that includes recruitment strategies, tactics, resource requests, external messaging, events/programs that will help to achieve the overall enrollment goals. Plans and executes the strategic visits and assesses success.



A bachelor’s degree is required. Minimum 3-4 years experience in admissions, counseling, or advising at a regionally accredited college or university. Student worker experience or volunteer work in college admissions, recruitment, and peer counseling/advising will be considered.

Experience giving oral presentations. Must have valid driver’s license.


Master’s degree. Experience working with diverse populations. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, data driven decision making and relationship building. Territory management, report building and maintenance, and the use of data driven decision making for planning and strategy development. Knowledge of university admissions, financial aid, and travel policies. Ability to work with new technologies to enhance recruitment.

 Job Skills Required: 

  • Attention to detail, writing, listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan visits, events, and presentations independently and strategically for prospective students.
  • Ability to lift, transport and distribute objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Oral presentation/public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of university admissions process.
  • Ability to problem solve and research solutions.
