Department Information
The Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is the second largest engineering college in Georgia with over 5,000 students. Students receive hands-on learning experiences from industry-expert faculty in the University's state-of-the-art facilities to produce Georgia's next generation of integrated engineers, with technical knowledge, intellectual depth, and experience in professional skills. With two programs in the Top 20 largest programs, the college has the third largest African American student enrollment among engineering colleges. The Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering consists of 380 undergraduate and graduate students and nine full-time faculty members. The faculty are committed to growing a program which is nationally recognized for providing an outstanding education to aspiring engineers, as well as peer-reviewed research with relevance. Scholarship in the Department includes both industry- and government-funded research projects focused on the practical application of engineering principles. The faculty have expertise in areas including soft robotics, smart materials, manufacturing & automation, machine design, UAV navigations and machine learning & intelligent systems, and best practices in engineering education. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering faculty position in the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering beginning August 1, 2022.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for the position include research, teaching and service work.

The ideal candidate will bring an established record of or promise of a vigorous, interdisciplinary, and sustainable externally funded research program.

Courses are taught on the Marietta campus of Kennesaw State University and are offered during daytime and evening hours. Faculty are expected to teach in a variety of instructional modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, flipped classroom and online.

Required Qualifications
    An earned terminal/doctorate degree, or a foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or closely related field is required. A strong background in computer programming is required.

Preferred Qualifications
    Experience in securing or showing promise for national-level external funding. Industry experience and/or Professional Engineering licensure. Experience teaching in various instructional modalities. Research related to collaborative robotics, complex mechatronics mechanisms and design, or medical robotics. Expertise in machine learning and AI is desirable.
