Bethune-Cookman University Bethune-Cookman University Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor – Sociology Job Title: Reporting Structure: Department of Social Sciences Reporting Structure: Division: College of Arts and Humanities/School of Liberal Arts Division: Job Summary: Job Summary: The Department of Social Sciences Studies at Bethune‐Cookman University invite applications for one (1) full‐time tenure‐track Sociology Assistant Professor Position or one (1) full-time Sociology Instructor Position to support the undergraduate program beginning January 2022. The area of specialization is open, although preference will be given to applicants with experience in research methods (quantitative & qualitative), statistics, demography and sociological theory. Applicants will also be expected to assist in meeting the normal service needs of the department. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferable: research methods in sociology, demography, statistics in social science research, race/ethnicity and urban sociology, social stratification, and social welfare.     • Excellence in teaching and service is required (For PhD faculty, a commitment to an active research agenda is also required).
    • The successful candidate will teach four (4) to six (6) courses each semester.
    • Regularly scheduled office hours are mandatory (10 hours per week minimum)

    • M.A., M.S., (Instructor) / Ph.D. (or “ABD”) in Sociology (Assistant Professor)
  • M.A., M.S., (Instructor) / Ph.D. (or “ABD”) in Sociology (Assistant Professor)
  • Preferred Skills, Experience and Education: Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:
    • Online teaching experience is preferred, but is not required.

    • Working environment is a normal business office setting.
    • Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity.
    • Must be mobile throughout the campus.
    • Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
