Georgetown's Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) serves as the university's primary mental health service for our students. Our central mission is to collaborate directly with students in overcoming difficulties that may interfere with their well-being and the accomplishment of their educational, personal, and career goals.

The Case Manager provides triage, consultation, referrals, and general coordination of care to Georgetown University students and the wider campus community, with special attention to medical leaves of absence, hospitalizations, and referrals to community providers.

Reporting to the CAPS Clinical Director, the Case Manager has duties that include but are not limited to:

Case Management Services
  • Represent CAPS at GU hospital discharge meetings for identified students and coordinate aftercare planning with the hospital
  • Develop and maintain a clinical case-management system to monitor high-risk students
  • Analyze students' insurance benefits and financial resources to aid in treatment planning and referrals
  • Provide in-house and off-campus clinical referrals, maintain database of local and regional treatment providers and community resources, and develop system for tracking referral outcomes
  • Develop aftercare and/or relapse prevention plans for identified students and monitor post treatment progress
  • Participate in after-hours crisis support system via phone

Administrative Duties
  • Coordinate exits and returns for Medical Leaves of Absence and maintain a database of exits and returns
  • Field and manage requests for releases of information and chart reviews
  • Document and maintain timely and accurate client records
  • Provide consultation to students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health and behavioral and student life issues.
  • Communicate as needed with university personnel and other concerned individuals, such as family members and concerned students.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the director


Work Mode: Hybrid 3 Days. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
