Job Overview

Georgetown University has a full-time opening in its Counseling and Psychiatric Service for a licensed staff psychologist or a licensed clinical social worker. Georgetown's Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) serves as the university's primary mental health service for our students. Our central mission is to collaborate directly with students in overcoming difficulties that may interfere with their well-being and the accomplishment of their educational, personal, and career goals.

Key responsibilities of this position center on fostering the success of students through the process of triage, assessment, short-term individual and group therapy, referrals where needed, programming, outreach and advocacy.

The Staff Clinician has primary duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Delivery of direct clinical services to students (individual, group, telehealth)
  • Development of outreach and educational programs
  • Crisis intervention
  • Consultation and liaison work with university constituents including deans, student affairs professionals, and hospital/psychiatric staff
  • Direct service to students, consultations to deans and faculty regarding student issues, and consultation to other CAPS staff and Student Health Service staff


Qualifications
  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or a doctorate or masters in social work.
  • Licensure in the District of Columbia as a social worker or psychologist (if not yet licensed, then licensure must be within 2 years of the start date)


Preferred qualifications
  • Strong preference for applicants with expertise & experience in: LGBTQ+ identities & concerns, eating disorder treatment, & UCC experience in outreach programming and coordination
  • We strongly encourage clinicians of color to apply


Administratively, CAPS is a department within the Division of Student Affairs. The Division of Student Affairs supports the academic mission of Georgetown University by educating students as whole persons, promoting their intellectual, moral, spiritual, and social formation; enhancing students' learning and helping to prepare them for lives of discernment, civic engagement, and professional growth; teaching personal responsibility and respect for people of all faiths, cultures, and beliefs; promoting the health and safety of students and others in the University community.

Work Mode: Hybrid 3 Days. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
