Department of World Languages and Cultures 

The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for two fulltime Lecturers: one to to teach Yoruba language and cultural studies and one to teach Chinese language and cultural studies. We seek outstanding applicants with a demonstrated track record of excellence in teaching. Evidence of interest and success in mentoring underrepresented students is highly desired.

Howard University is currently classified as an R2 research university with aspirations and actions underway to achieve R1 status within the next few years. It is a residential campus of approximately 12,000 students located in the heart of the nation’s capital, Washington, DC.

 Required Minimum Qualifications:

·       Earned Master’s degree in African Studies, Yoruba studies, or a related field from an accredited institution;

·       Earned Master’s in Chinese language or a related field from an accredited institution;

·       Record of effective teaching; and

·       Effective communication and organizational skills
