Job Description:

SUNY Empire State College's Information Technology Services seeks a Digital Media Assistant (State title: Staff Assistant) to develop media for faculty, staff, and students with emphasis on training and special projects. The incumbent will also collaborate with other Digital Media Services staff on the use of web conferencing and media production.

This position is a temporary position through May 2022, with the possibility of a 1-year renewal.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for proposing, developing, planning, coordinating and facilitating training opportunities and resources related to digital media technology
• Create media using a wide range of multimedia software including, but not limited to, audio, video, web, and animation software to develop materials for courses and trainings
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to educational technologies for faculty, staff, and students.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AV technology in classrooms and event spaces
• Assist with inventory, maintenance, and replacement of various AV technology in ESC locations
• Assist with administration of video content management systems and digital signage
• Produce largescale Zoom and Teams meetings, webinars, and live events
• Collaborate with team members to plan short- and long-term projects and participate in implementing strategic initiatives
• Work on special projects as deemed relevant and be available as needed for technical and other support during critical periods
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 1-3 years of experience working a wide variety of multimedia software applications such as the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and related tools.
• Proficiency in a variety of educational technologies, including learning management systems, audiovisual editing hardware and software, and graphic design tools used in higher education.
• Strong communication and interaction skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support.
• Effective presentation skills in communicating technical information to non-technical personnel.
• Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
• Able to organize, categorize, and prioritize workload effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision.
• Able to foster cooperative relationships with a diverse academic community, including instructional designers and faculty.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in technology, digital media, or instructional technology/design, or related academic field.
• Knowledge of project management, adult learning, instructional design methodology, technology-mediated learning, and learning theory.
• Understanding of universal design, accessibility and assistive technologies in higher education.

Rank/Salary: SL2/$45,000+ (Commensurate with qualifications)
