The objective of this study entitled “Developing a Trauma Informed Out of School Time Program” is to develop and implement a trauma informed out of school time program model that can demonstrate measurable improvements in K-8th grade academic performance, improved emotional regulation and decreased physical and relational aggression for participating students. The program will engage students, families and community members in and around a low income housing development using qualitative and quantitative participatory action research methodologies. 

The Educational Consultant is an experienced teacher or school administrator with prior classroom experience who will design and implement an executive coaching program for the out of school time Program Director. The Consultant also provides advice and expertise to Principal Investigator in support of the programmatic, research and evaluation aims of the project. Assists in project planning, and ensures that pre-established work scope and study protocols are followed.

Responsibilities include: training Program Director in the theory, pedagogy and approach to teaching problem based learning; training Program Director to create individualized problem based learning lesson plan; teaches core principles and best practices in curriculum development; supports Program Director in developing relationships with school and community partners; assists in establishing working relationships with internal and external contacts in order to: strengthen the leadership skills of the Program Director, act as a communication conduit on matters of operational and strategic importance; and supports the Program Director in making formal presentations to community groups; provides effective strategies and real-time feedback on communicating and engaging with families and relevant stakeholders; collaborates with the Principal Investigator to develop a progress and assessment structure for the Program Director in order to measure success of training; supports Program Director in staff development 
and implementation of lesson plans; works closely with Principal Investigator to develop operating policies and procedures for the research project; assists Principal Investigator in development of the evaluation strategy; travels to off-site locations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and four or more years of directly related educational experience, experience teaching multiple grades between kindergarten and 8th grade in an urban environment, literacy background and mathematics content knowledge, and project/problem based learning experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Demonstrated ability to adapt to and work with people of diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds
*Experience with trauma-informed care
*Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
*Demonstrated ability to adapt to and work with people of diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds
*Demonstrated proficiency with technology including but not limited to MS Office Suite, database management and social media

Preferred: 
*Prior experience with or academic background in trauma informed care and Response to Intervention
*Master's Degree; experience in nonprofit work; experience in out of school program administration

This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.
