Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary:

Serves as the Auxiliary Services Division Human Resources representative with experience and working knowledge of Human Resources tasks, rules and regulations. Assists with interpreting University-wide policies, programs and procedures and at times developing customized internal departmental policies that comply with University HR direction, policies and procedures. Assist with Benefits, FMLA, and Worker’s Compensation guidelines and questions as needed. Assists the Training Specialist with departmental trainings and serves as back-up for Orientations.

• Knowledge of HR operations, processes and procedures.
• Communicate effectively at all levels of a large, complex organization in both written and oral forms.

• Work with confidential and sensitive information.

Frequent sitting is common but this position will require standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing and pulling depending on the work to be accomplished.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Policy and Procedures: Serve as a liaison to Employee Relations Coordinator for departmental policies, procedures and processes.
• Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures as necessary.
• Administer departmental protocols and best practices, ensuring that department rules, policies, practices and programs meet legal/regulatory standards and are in compliance with University of Georgia policies; recommend new policies or changes to existing policies;
• A resource for employees for resolving workplace issues;
• Evaluate and respond to Human Resource issues and when appropriate consult with Employee Relations Coordinator, collegiate, division, or refers the individual to other campus resources;
• Assess and anticipate HR-related needs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Process FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, and ADA requests.
• Complete requests and follow-up correspondents in a timely manner;
• Submit requested documentation to Central HR Liaison as requested;
• Submit ongoing Worker’s Compensation documentation to the DOAS Case Managers;
• Coordinate with the HR Position Management team for WC-6 wage statements;
• Update, monitor, and track employees in FMLA, Worker’s Compensation and ADA database.

• Assist Training Specialist with departmental training and research needs;
• Serves as back-up for departmental trainings;
• Support employee development, performance management and progressive discipline processes;
• Coordinate with Management on best practices to leading high performing employees.

Office Duties:
• Filing documents and completing tasks in appropriately and timely manner;
• Greet Faculty, Staff, Students, and Visitors with courtesy and respect;
• Answering phones, answering questions from Staff/Students/Visitors, taking messages, and relaying messages to appropriate personnel;
• Preparing letters and mailings as assigned;
• Assisting Auxiliary Departments and Human Resources with special projects as needed;
• Scanning documents into the file system;
• Maintain current HR files and databases.
