- Primary responsibilities:
- 30 faculty load hours Fall and Spring Terms
- 6 office hours per week during the fall and spring semesters
- Teaching and assessing student learning
- Student advising
- Professional Development
In addition to a faculty member’s primary responsibilities, the exceptional candidate will also demonstrate commitment and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Mentoring students from target groups; new full-time faculty; part-time faculty Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for all learning modalities including distance education formatsTraining and consulting for workforce initiatives (e.g., for public and corporate partners, etc.)Developing and implementing community education and extended learning programsPartnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the communityRecruiting and marketingAdvising with expanded responsibilitiesDevising retention strategies and activities to ensure equity gaps are eliminatedStrengthening relationships and collaborative activities including K-12 and baccalaureate-granting colleagues
A master’s degree in Communications
Minimum of two years’ experience teaching in the discipline at an institution of higher education (60 credit equivalency)
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in theory and practice
Individual teaching schedules are developed each semester based on the needs of students, and department with the opportunity to teach daytime, evening, and weekend classes and at offsite locations.
Preferred Qualifications:Community college teaching experience
Experience teaching a diverse student population including English Language Learners
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in Spanish or another language
Experience mentoring and/or supporting students outside of the classroom
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
Practical knowledge of learning outcomes assessment at the course and/or program level
Experience using a variety of technology, including skill at using learning management systems
