- 30 faculty load hours Fall and Spring Terms
- 6 office hours per week during the fall and spring semesters
- Teaching and assessing student learning
- Student advising
- Professional Development
In addition to a faculty member’s primary responsibilities, the exceptional candidate will also demonstrate commitment and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Mentoring students from target groups; new full-time faculty; part-time faculty Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for all learning modalities including distance education formatsTraining and consulting for workforce initiatives (e.g., for public and corporate partners, etc.)Developing and implementing community education and extended learning programsPartnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the communityRecruiting and marketingAdvising with expanded responsibilitiesDevising retention strategies and activities to ensure equity gaps are eliminated.Strengthening relationships and collaborative activities including K-12 and baccalaureate-granting colleagues
A master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, or closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics
Minimum of 30 credit hours of teaching mathematics at a college
Ability to teach a wide range of community college mathematics courses including developmental and credit-level courses
Experience integrating technology and innovative teaching strategies to improve student learning
Experience working collaboratively with colleagues
Preferred Qualifications:
Community college teaching experience
Experience teaching online and/or hybrid formats
Experience teaching statistics and/or data science.
Experience in accelerated and/or technology-supported developmental mathematics pathways
Ability to teach upper-level STEM courses such as the calculus series (Calculus 1, 2, and 3), Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and/or Discrete Structures
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in Spanish or another language
Knowledge of the mission of community colleges and issues directly related to serving community college students
Individual teaching schedules are developed each semester based on the needs of students, and department with the opportunity to teach daytime, evening, and weekend classes and at offsite locations
