Nature of Work/Summary of Job

The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension seeks a Senior Professional Research Assistant/Microsurgeon to work on preclinical projects involving VCA transplantation, delayed graft function and rejection. Our microsurgical core is funded through the DOD and VA, and performs VCA and heart transplants. The applicant will perform experiments using mouse and rat transplant models to study the role of the innate and adaptive immune systems in mediating disease progression.    

Examples of Work Performed

The Senior PRA will perform mouse and rat transplants, run Western blots, ELISA assays, qPCR, cell culture, and flow cytometry. Approximately 15% of the PRA’s time will be devoted to performing routine lab work such as mouse experiments, ordering supplies, making solutions, and organizing samples.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $49,000- $50,000

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications  

Master of Science or an equivalent experience.

Experience with microsurgery in rodents including pig, mouse or rat microsurgery, molecular biology, biochemical techniques, mouse handling, ELISA’s, qPCR, RNA isolation, flow cytometry, and rat or mouse surgery

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
