The School of Dental Medicine has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Communications and Content Manager position.

The Communications and Content Manager is a content creator, strategist, and writer for the School of Dental Medicine (SDM). This position supports the SDM's Office of Communication's comprehensive strategic plan across various channels, including external, internal, print, digital and social media, promoting the school's and clinics' strengths.

The Communications and Content Manager will work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications at the SDM and the CU Anschutz Campus Communications team.

This position is actively involved in the day-to-day communications of the SDM, working with alumni, dentists, faculty, staff, and students to gather and publicize content to the appropriate audiences with the most suitable platform, all in line with the SDM's vision and mission. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The Marketing and Communications Manager will not supervise others.

The position requires extensive, diverse, and progressively responsible experience writing and managing projects. The person hired for this position must understand how to target multiple stakeholders and have knowledge of direct-to-consumer (example: patients and students) communications initiatives.

The individual will find unique story angles to showcase the SDM. This person will write and update content for the e-newsletter, school's websites (central and newsroom), and social media. The position requires help with: events, photoshoots, video shoots, and other communications projects deemed necessary.

The ideal candidate is a creative thinker and highly motivated.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, public health, or a directly related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing.
  • Extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience at the management level, including direct responsibility for content management.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis

Preferred Qualifications

    Demonstrates experience as an exceptional storyteller, with the ability to communicate in visual formats and the written word. Collaborates and writes video scripts, email blasts, etc.Creates unique content that is relevant, engaging, compelling, and practical, with a knowledge of current content and cultural trends across the ever-changing, ever-growing landscape of marketing channels, platforms, and touchpoints.Participates in team meetings, along with discussions with key stakeholders.Demonstrates ability to capture the voice of a brand/person/product/service and consistently, convincingly apply it to various content that supports the growth and impact of said brand/person/product/service.Understands and has experience with higher education and healthcare (a bonus).

    Communicates effectively, both in writing and orally. Works independently with a team and is a self-starter.Manages time and meets deadlines accordingly. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Comes up with solutions to problems and can quickly pivot when needed.Champions creativity. Demonstrates commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.Willingness to learn new technologies/digital platforms and incorporate them into work products.Ability to give and receive feedback in a thoughtful, constructive, collaborative manner and effectively apply that feedback to work at hand. Experience working across a variety of communications channels, platforms, and touchpoints. Outstanding customer service skills.Familiarity with project management

Interaction with faculty and staff on a daily basis. Strong communication skills and problem solving skills for dealing with a variety of personalities and various levels of stress at times.   Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $59,608 - $75,821

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
