About CBH and this position:

We are seeking a post-doctoral research fellow to contribute to our vibrant research program by developing an independent program of research and collaborating on existing projects. We at CBH are committed to expanding our world-class research group that focuses on empirical, policy-relevant research on topics at the intersection of bioethics and health policy.  (https://www.cuanschutz.edu/centers/bioethicshumanities/research)  Our core research faculty includes Dr. Eric G. Campbell, Dr. Lisa Bero, Dr. Matt Wynia, Dr. Christine Baugh, Dr. Matthew DeCamp, Dr. Marilyn Coors and Dr. Megan Morris. The work of our research team focuses on important contemporary issues in bioethics and health policy including: conflicts of interest in medicine, medical aid in dying, bias in research, ethical issues in genetics research, the use of novel monoclonal antibodies in COVID-19, return to sport after injury, the use of artificial intelligence in health care, community engagement and disability-related healthcare disparities. Our research methods span the spectrum of traditional health services research methodologies including, but not limited to, qualitative methods, survey research, secondary data analyses, synthesis /meta methods, quasi-experimental methods and clinical trials.  

The University Colorado provides a wealth of opportunities for professional development for Post-doctoral fellows including, but not limited to, numerous lectures, work-in-progress meetings, an Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and other forms of professional development support.  In addition, we at the CBH offer limited support to attend scientific meetings to develop your national research profile.  Although teaching is not required for this position, there may opportunities to contribute to relevant coursework on a limited basis. This position does not provide opportunities for the clinical practice of medicine.

Job Summary:

The Center for Bioethics and Humanities (CBH) at the University of Colorado is seeking to hire a Post-doctoral Research Fellow. Start date is flexible (as early as July 2022 and as late as January 2023). The fellowship is guaranteed for one year with the expectation of a second year of funding, contingent on review. While the position does not include a faculty appointment, a successful fellow may be considered for a faculty appointment upon completion of the fellowship. The stipend is competitive and benefits are provided. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who will contribute to the diversity of CBH and University of Colorado.

 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at $53,760 - $63,760. Following current NIH Stipend Guidelines.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD, MD or JD or equivalent doctorate with a focus on ethics, epidemiology, health policy, public policy, public health, clinical epidemiology, pharmacology, or other relevant fields. Obtained by position start date; Demonstrated research skills;

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and interest in bioethics;Track record of publications in scientific and/or medical journals.Experience with qualitative data collection and analysis.Experience with quantitative data analysis.Experience or success with the competitive grants process;Experience supervising research staff;Expertise in working through problems systematically and cooperatively with colleagues and implementing agreed solutions;Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills;Commitment to contributing to a diverse and equitable community;Demonstrated ability to work both in person and remotely on multi-disciplinary teams.

Job Requirements:

In this role you will be expected to:

Begin to establish an independent program of empirical research, Engage in multidisciplinary scholarly activities consistent with the mission of the CBH and the University of Colorado;

Prepare and present your current and future research in high impact journals and at conferences; Provide mentorship to research staff as appropriate;Participate in the group’s academic and operational meetings.
