General Information: The Department of Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences (HSLS) seeks faculty applicants committed to teaching students in the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program and the Ph.D. program in Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications. The appointment will be a ten-month position. Position is contingent on funding.

Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in audiology or closely related field, or an ABD candidate with an expectation of dissertation completion within one year of hire.
  • Applicants must possess content knowledge in a range of areas that may include diagnostic audiology, amplification, aural rehabilitation, community and industrial audiology, practice management, and auditory processing disorder.
  • Demonstrated competence in teaching, scholarship, and a commitment to service as well as demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Competence in American Sign Language and knowledge of Deaf culture are necessary. Applicants without ASL skills must demonstrate a commitment to learning ASL and will receive institutional support needed for ASL development.
  • Clinical certification is preferred.
Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in audiology and other courses supported by the HSLS Department
  • Engage in scholarly activities in the discipline and participate in department and university faculty service and other professional service.
  • Advise Au.D. students, mentor students on their Au.D. research project or thesis.
  • Serve on Ph.D. dissertation committees, and participate in milestone examination (candidacy and comprehensive exams)
  • Maintain active scholarly efforts, including dissemination of products resulting from the efforts.
  • Clinical precepting of students in the Hearing, Speech Center is a possibility, if desired.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty members, clinical supervisors, and department staff.
Rank and Salary: Pre-Tenure Track: Instructor, Tenure Track: Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Starting Date: Fall 2022
