Landscape Coordinator (Instructional Support Tech IV)Requisition IDreq1042DepartmentLandscape TechnologyCampusRC-Rock Creek CampusEmployment TypeClassified-Full TimeJob Close Date1/13/2022Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Program Dean for Building & Environmental Technologies & Trades, prepares and cleans up labs for instructors, in both indoor and outdoor classroom spaces, maintains equipment, performs regular landscape maintenance, is responsible for the daily cleanliness and security of the work areas and coordinates the day-to-day work of casual staff.

Principal Accountabilities

Instructional Support

    Sets up and cleans up laboratory experiences for students as required by course outline or faculty direction. Ensures that all equipment needed for these labs is operational and available for use.
    Checks out equipment, supplies, materials to students as needed
    Under the direction of the faculty, occasionally works with students individually or in groups to enhance their learning in the assigned lab. May provide direct assistance in the use of equipment and materials needed for instruction.
    Orders department laboratory supplies, equipment and instructional materials utilizing blanket purchase orders and/or College purchasing card. Tracks expenditures and reconciles bank statements.
    Occasionally picks up department lab supplies off campus
Equipment Maintenance & Repair

    Is responsible for ensuring that all equipment is always clean and operational.
    Performs or schedules routine maintenance and/or repairs as needed.
    Maintains up to date records, both manual and computerized, including chemical and pesticides logs, and equipment maintenance and repair documentation.
Grounds Maintenance

    Performs daily a range of landscape maintenance duties including, but not limited to weeding, pesticide spraying, string trimming, leaf removal, lawn care and watering.
    Cleans parking lot and walkways to ensure safety for pedestrian and vehicular trafficMay be required to handle, store and dispose of hazardous materials following Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and/or other regulatory agency protocols. Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Facilities Maintenance & Coordination

    Provides for the daily cleanliness and security of the work areas: Building 4 classroom and lab, greenhouse, hoop house and pole barn.
    Reports maintenance problems as they occur.
    Under the direction of the faculty, coordinates with internal and external groups using the facilities
Casual Staff Supervision

    Serves as lead worker - coordinates the day-to-day activities and oversees the work of casual and student workers
    Develops work schedules for all casual and student workers
    Trains casual and student workers in lab set up and clean up and in the safe maintenance and use of equipment
    Participates in the interview process and may make hiring recommendations to the Faculty Department Chair and/or Dean

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of post-secondary education in a specific technical discipline appropriate to the instructional support (relevant experience may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis)
  • Three years of experience in the technical area are required
  • Must have proven written and oral communications skills adequate to assist students in understanding the work they are to perform
  • Proven ability to lead others and evaluate performance

Preferred Qualifications

    Public pesticide applicators license (either upon hire or within 6 months of hire)

Position Grade19Starting Salary ExpectationsThe first two steps of the range are: $45.670 to $47,040 per year. Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age. Partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions (full-time employees only).

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

  • Starts at 8 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of service)
  • 8 hours of sick leave per month
  • 24 hours of additional personal leave days per year
  • 11 Paid holidays

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work pressure, disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis
  • Changes in the performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills
  • Working conditions may be somewhat disagreeable requiring occasional exposure to safety hazards, noise and temperature extremes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some learned physical skills are required
  • Physical effort such as frequent standing, walking and lifting; guiding and/or carrying of lightweight materials or equipment; occasional periods of sustained effort
