ABOUT MGH INSTITUTE:

MGH Institute of Health Professions is a graduate school in Boston that provides entry-level and post-professional programs in Nursing, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Genetic Counseling, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. The PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences and a PhD and Master of Science in Health Professions Education have been added in recent years to meet rising demand for highly educated health care professionals, educators, and researchers. Integrating classroom learning with research and clinical experience, the Institute grants doctoral degrees, master's degrees, awards certificates of advanced study, and offers continuing education to practicing professionals.

The IHP is the only degree-granting affiliate in Mass General Brigham (MGB), the largest private employer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. POSITION SUMMARY:
This position involves teaching Abnormal Psychology in an online, asynchronous, learning-management system (LMS) environment. This course operates within a weekly schedule over a half-semester (7 weeks). The ideal candidate should be well-versed in standard curriculum for college-level Abnormal Psychology. Our program focuses on preparing students for healthcare professions. Healthcare experience and/or the ability to relate Abnormal Psychology concepts to the health professions is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should be dedicated to student engagement and a high-touch experience for students through remote learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Regular communication with students through LMS discussion boards, email, and live video sessions
  • Grading/feedback of student assignments
  • Regular updates to course material, with a focus on clinically applicable aspects of Abnormal Psychology
  • Collaboration with institute resources (Instructional Design Services and Office for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) to ensure online content maximizes learner engagement and reflects the values of IHP
  • Interest and ability to work with program leadership to transition this course from a half-semester (7 weeks) to full semester (14 weeks)


Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Masters Degree or PhD in Psychology, Social Work, or related field, teaching experience (2-3 years), experience teaching online, background in LMS learning systems (preferably D2L), communication skills

Start Date: The spring semester begins January 18, 2022. While we re-evaluate mutual partnerships between instructors and the program each semester, an ideal candidate would be interested in a multiple-semester commitment.
