Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Coordinator for Advising Admissions, Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Tracks student progress and assists with outreach/retention efforts.
  • Advise current students on curriculum issues and class schedules.
  • Providing general advising and program information to prospective students.
  • Monitoring student academic plans to provide timely, proactive outreach to ensure degree progress and timely graduation using defined learning outcomes.
  • Organizing pre-advising information and hand-outs to guide prospective students in their choice of programs in College of Business.
  • Process Registrations Executive Education graduate programs.
  • Resolve problems as they arise or recommends how problems can be resolved.
  • Assists with responding to student emails/phone calls regarding general questions about admissions for prospective students and program requirements for current students.
  • Serves as a liaison with other designated areas across the College and University to facilitate student success and completion in conjunction with Student Academic Services leadership.
  • Makes positive and constructive contributions to foster a collegial team.
  • Work closely with the immunization department, financial aid office, controller’s office, registrar's office, and international student office to ensure that current students' paperwork is updated.
  • Correspond frequently with students by phone and email using strong and professional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Use Microsoft office suite (word, excel, etc.) to organize and track students’ academic progress and finance (tuition billing and payment).
  • Work closely with the Executive Education staff counterparts to facilitate students’ non-academic requests or needs.
  • Work closely with professors to help facilitate communication with students in an atypical situation.
  • Provide general office support if requested in other areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate prior work experience required.

University experience and knowledge of student advising preferred. Knowledge of Banner, VIP, Dart Board, IRM, Office Suite and Adobe preferred.

Competency in utilization of technology (especially web services and navigation through student record database systems) is essential. Proficiency in MS Office Suite software programs preferred.

Requires a very well organized, detail-oriented person with strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication skills. Candidate should enjoy assisting others, know how to prioritize job tasks, work well under pressure/deadlines, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, a good multi-tasker and team player.

Requires some degree of flexibility as the department delivers advising services and support on weekends and weeknights, if required.

$45,000 - $52,000
