Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator, Academic Programs, Boca Raton, FL.

Reporting to the Director of Education Abroad, the Coordinator advises students interested in study abroad or exchange program opportunities as well as incoming international students on approved exchange programs. The Coordinator manages a portfolio of programs, student applications as well as orients international exchange students and prepares study abroad students and faculty leaders for program departure. The Coordinator facilitates campus-wide collaboration with faculty, academic units, administrative offices, and international partners on recruiting, marketing, and special events.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Promote study abroad to FAU students through outreach such as group advising sessions, individual advising appointments, and on-campus events.
  • Guide FAU students to select appropriate programs, and advise outgoing students and incoming exchange students on required documents and course registration process.
  • Manage a small portfolio of exchange programs and facilitate the process from nomination to arrival.
  • Review and process student applications, administrative fees and program fee payments.
  • Maintain program participant rosters and set-up international medical insurance for outgoing student participants and faculty leaders/assistants.
  • Occasional travel to conferences or international travel for program development or review.
  • Works regularly with FAU offices such as Financial Aid, International Services, Admissions, Registrar’s and Housing.
  • Host pre-departure sessions for study abroad students and assist in incoming exchange orientation session with Education Abroad Assistant Director and International Services.
  • Offer remote administrative support to study abroad students and faculty during program dates and serve as an incoming exchange student advocate on campus.
  • Manage student appointments and keep thorough advising records.
  • Host advising appointments at the FAU Jupiter campus once a month or as needed.
  • Serve as Benjamin A. Gilman scholarship advisor, identify study abroad funding opportunities and host scholarship workshop for interested students.
  • Provide faculty leaders with student emergency documentation and departure information.
  • Other projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience required.

Master’s degree preferred.

Prior experience in a role that involves advising, mentoring, counseling, conducting orientations or other student services required.

Excellent organization and time management skills required.

Ability to work with a team as well as with limited supervisions in a fast-paced, diverse environment required.

Proficiency in Microsoft programs required.

Ability to work evenings or weekends to accommodate university events and programming as needed.

Experience studying, living, or working abroad preferred.

Experience in international education and student advising preferred.

Proficiency in a foreign language preferred.

Salary:

$42,000 - $45,500

Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., (on campus). Occasional evenings and weekends.
