Job Details

Trinity Christian College is seeking a full-time Financial Aid Advisor.  The Financial Aid Advisor (FAA) serves as the initial contact for students, parents, and college members. Under supervision by the Director, the FAA will provide clear and accurate explanations of financial aid requirements and eligibility criteria. The selected candidate will also be responsible for developing adequate knowledge of record flow within CAMs (office computer system) to accurately interpret and revise applicants' records, including recalculation of financial need. Additionally, the FAA will provide counseling via telephone and take part in on and off campus financial aid informational sessions for new and continuing students.  Responsible for processing financial aid for students by reviewing documents, evaluating eligibility and awarding various types of federal and state financial aid. Responsible for meeting with students and families to explain the financial aid process, along with answer questions regarding financial aid awards and required documents.

Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides assistance to students and parents/guardians who are seeking and/or receiving financial aid
  • Advises students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, available financial aid programs, educational costs, and financial management strategies, including loans, financing options, and other financial aid related matter
  • Counsels students and parents/guardians regarding financing an education at the College
  • Reviews student applications for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensures compliance with laws and regulations regarding financial aid
  • Responds to inquiries and researches and resolves issues related to transactions
  • Researches and assists with issue resolution related to federal and state systems
  • Maintains appropriate documentation via data entry system (CAMS, etc.)
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that impact the efficiency and quality of services provided

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Preferred Experience

  • One (1) year of Financial Aid Office experience preferred
  • Working and tested knowledge of CAMS (Student Information System) preferred
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Experience working with student populations preferred
