The Department of Radiation Oncology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Postdoctoral Associate. Working under general supervision of the principal investigator, the postdoctoral fellow will plan and carry out studies focused on cancer cell biology. The overall goal of the laboratory is to understand the key factors that render cancers resistant to therapeutic strategies, and to then develop better alternative therapies that can overcome the disease. The research work performed in the principal investigator’s laboratory is in line with the overall mission of the School of Medicine, in particular in enhancing human health by advancing discoveries from the laboratories to patients. Conduct experiments in both cell lines and mouse models in collaboration with the principal investigator, associate scientist, postdocs and graduate students; record data and analyze results. Analyze microarray data. Perform clonogenic assays and other in vitro survival assay. Freeze, thaw, expand, and passage cell lines. Assist in developing improved techniques, projection methods or procedures. Maintain rodent colonies and perform experiments on cancer models in mice. Maintain careful and detailed laboratory notebooks. Order and stock reagents, maintain laboratory inventories, and maintain laboratory environment and equipment. Train and assist with new staff and students. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


PhD required


Work experience leading to PhD is required

Experience with Immunohistochemical staining preferred

Experience with microarray data analysis preferred

Ability to operate laboratory equipment including PCR, RT-PCR, Western blotting apparatus, gel electrophoresis; elisa readers; luminometer; microscopes
