Illinois Wesleyan University's The Ames Library invites applications for a 12-month faculty tenure-line position as Electronic Resources & Library Systems Librarian. This position serves as the functional expert on all of the library’s software, systems, and E-resources, which are essential to user access and discovery. The successful candidate will understand and maintain the inter-relationship of library systems with the campus network infrastructure and enterprise systems in order to provide the campus community with high-quality, seamless, access to library resources. This position may have supervisory responsibilities in the future. August 1, 2022 start date, unless otherwise negotiated.

IWU is a nationally ranked, fully accredited undergraduate university with 1650 students that provides the highest quality liberal arts education. The Ames Library offers a learning environment that is conducive to interaction, consultation, study, and reflection, and is dedicated to serving the scholarly needs of the Illinois Wesleyan University community. Opened in 2002, the library holds a diverse and strong print and digital collection and several media studios for students and faculty. Collocated within the library are three of our partners: the Writing Center, the Center for Engaged Learning, and members of Information Technology Services. Each library faculty member at The Ames Library is responsible for liaison work with assigned departments, as well as a functional area that serves both the library and campus to achieve scholarly and artistic goals. The library faculty are highly collaborative and committed to student learning in all forms. The successful candidate contributes to faculty governance through campus committee service, and engages with the academic librarianship community through professional development, consortial or library association service, and scholarship.

Responsibilities

Electronic Resource Management

    Manage daily operation of electronic resources, including subscription databases, open access options, individual journals, and collectionsManage access within PrimoVE, ILLiad, external systems, knowledgebase, link resolver, and proxy configurationMaintain information in vendor administrative modules (branding, link resolver, etc.)Communicate with vendors and publishers to provide seamless access to subscription and OA content Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve problems identified within internal and external systemsWork closely with the University Librarian, who oversees collections and budgets

Library Systems Administration

    Manage systems integration between electronic resources and non-library systemsCollaborate with ITS on library system purchases and integrations with IWU systems (SSO, EZProxy, Banner, etc.)Collaborate with IWU Web Developer to integrate javascript and special code for advanced library website functions (PrimoVE search box, libchat widget, etc.)Maintain EZProxy
    Administrator of Alma and PrimoVE
    Systems Liaison to CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois)

Library Liaison Responsibilities

    Instruction, collection development, and research consultations for faculty, staff, and students in academic programs and departments

Required Qualifications:

    ALA-accredited Master’s degreeFamiliarity with and/or knowledge of managing library systems and e-resourcesAbility to work well independently and collaboratively with others in a rapidly changing environmentEnthusiasm, collegiality and excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

    Academic library work experience (pre- or concurrent with degree work accepted)ExLibris Alma certification is preferred, or experience with other library systems Familiarity with usage data collection and analysis using the COUNTER 5 standardFamiliarity with implementing proxy software, e.g., EZProxy and/or OpenAthensFamiliarity with an array of publishing and access models, e.g., open access, traditional publishing, streaming media, document delivery, interlibrary loan, DDA, etc.Familiarity with information literacy and instruction

Rank and Salary:
