Description
The College of Education (COE) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) seeks applications for Professor of Special Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning. The Department seeks a scholar with an outstanding record of research and practice in Special Education, Behavior Analysis and Psychology with a focus in MTSS, PBIS and RTI. The candidate will have a demonstrated record of funded research, leadership in program development, and college level enrollment management practices. As a senior faculty member within COE, the qualified candidate will have a background of continued quality improvement, excellence in teaching, mentoring and advising. 

The typical time allocation for tenured faculty in the COE is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service. The teaching load for this position is five classes per academic year, some of which may be online, hybrid or at off-campus locations, with the potential for additional teaching opportunities during the summer. The faculty member in this position will provide leadership and contribute to enrollment management efforts in the Alternative Teacher Licensure program and in the Inclusive Behavior Intervention certificate program. Additionally, the faculty member will develop and refine teaching and assessment practices; advise students; contribute to the COE's accreditation initiatives; and participate in program, department, college, and community meetings.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Salary Range: Generally starting at $99,000 - $101,000 per academic year

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in special education or equivalent field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • BCBA-D

  • Must have obtained tenure

Preferred Qualifications: 

Preference will be given to qualified candidates who have one or more of the following qualification

  • Licensure in special education or equivalent content area, such as inclusive education or behavioral support.

  • Defined scholarly agenda

  • Expertise in rural education

  • Expertise in program evaluation

  • Evidence of potential for securing external funds

  • Experience in public school settings

  • Experience and willingness to engage in both in-person and online instruction

Physical Requirements: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move.  Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Talking and hearing within normal range.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
