The Office of Research is hiring a skilled health professional who is expected to support community engaged research and Extension projects under the direction of Drs. Alison Berg and Allisen Penn. The successful candidate will meet the needs of the state of Georgia and Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance. (Georgia CTSA) This person will work with Georgia communities and Extension specialists and agents to build capacity for and implement community-engaged clinical and translational research that furthers the critical land grant mission of UGA and expands the impact of the Georgia CTSA. This is for a Public Service Assistant/Associate Non-Tenure Track position.

• The Community Health Program and Research Coordinator will work with Extension state specialists and researchers to support, implement, and evaluate community health research and capacity building initiatives.
• Work collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams to foster a systems approach to community health.
• Work collaboratively with state and federal agencies, other universities, industry, the Georgia CTSA, and other entities to expand program reach in the areas of health and wellness.
• Facilitate local health coalitions and health issue teams to assess and prioritize community needs, document prioritized needs, and communicate with various stakeholders at the state and local level, and support development of new coalitions as needed.
• Provide training and education for local extension faculty and staff, coalitions, and other community stakeholders on research capacity and public health principles.
• Work collaboratively with the Extension Specialists, agents, and leadership to develop a framework for identifying community health priorities through community leadership.
• Collaborate with Extension specialists, research faculty, and informatics experts to identify health metrics and community health priorities to include in a database that will inform alignment of needs with resources.
• Participate actively in the Georgia CTSA Community Engagement Core to connect local extension health coalitions, leadership teams, faculty, and issue teams to Georgia CTSA researchers and initiatives.
• Support translational research and Extension projects through activities such as data collection, data management, data analysis, report writing and contribution to scientific publications, presentations, and reports.
• Provide administrative support for community-engaged research functions of the Georgia CTSA Community Engagement Core.
• Serve as a liaison between communities, UGA Extension, Archway, and other Public Service and Outreach Units, the Georgia CTSA, and other key stakeholders.

• Doctorate in community health, public health, health promotion, Extension education and/or related field preferred.
• Three or more years of experience in public/community health.
• History with Extension and public service and outreach preferred.
• Background in research (data collection, data management, data analysis, writing for scientific publications) preferred.
• A record of working with community leadership groups.
• Preferred Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations: Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Masters Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), Community Health Worker, Certified in Public Health, or related certification preferred.

• A background in research (data collection, data management, data analysis, writing for scientific publications) preferred.
• History working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment involving multi-tasking.
• Strong interpersonal communication and public speaking and presentation skills
• Strong writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of colleagues and audiences including academic colleagues, medical professionals, practitioners, Extension agents, graduate and undergraduate students and the public.
